Today Owen had an appointment to get his hair cut. This time last year was his first haircut which makes me sad to even think about. Oh, how times have changed. He kicked, screamed, yelled no, and yes, even hit! He can't stand the clippers and wouldn't let my hair dresser get near him with them. I dread him having his hair cut these days but needed to have it done because he and Evan are having their pictures made tomorrow. I seriously think it might not be meant to be to have their picture taken because we've had to reschedule 3 times and had a crazy time getting to Ellijay today.
As you know, I live in rural north Georgia. I still drive to Ellijay to get my hair done. I love my hairdresser and she's extremely inexpensive. Well, I had both boys with me today and left early enough to have time to run by a friend's children's clothing store, or so I thought. There are 2 routes to Ellijay from Chatsworth meaning there are not many options to getting there. So, I'm driving and see police lights ahead. Apparently there had been a wreck around the corner that I couldn't see. I had 2 choices: turn around or wait. I was about 4 miles from town. At this point Evan is screaming to inform me he is hungry. If I turned around it would mean going all the way back to Chatsworth and going over the mountain. Ah, the joys of living in the mountains. I pulled up and told the police officer I had a baby to feed and he completely understood. He directed me to pull in to this large grassy area in front of an automotive shop/flea market. So, I pull in and tell the owner what I'm doing, need to nurse a baby. Both the police officer and owner were very understanding, both actually had babies at home and told me that knew he needed to eat. I nurse Evan and Owen is watching "Thomas the Train" on the dvd player. Thanks Mom and Daddy for a great gift!!! The police officer thinks the wreck might be cleared by the time I'm finished. I nurse Evan then he gives me a nice, smelly gift in his diaper. I drive a Honda Accord with 2 car seats in the back-no room to change a baby. So, I take the stroller out of the trunk and change his diaper. Owner walks up to inspect the road and happily takes the dirty diaper to throw in the dumpster. He asks where I need to go and informs me of another way to get to my parents' house. Seriously, he told me to turn on a certain road and then when I get to 2 forks in the road, go right both times. He didn't give landmarks or anything else. I thanked him and decided to go for it. I was praying the whole way for the safety of my kids and to get where I needed to be. In the meantime my gas light comes on in the car. I'm driving and just see fields and trees and not much sign of life. Finally, after driving several miles I got on the road I needed to be on but it put me out further west than I should've been. Finally get to my mom so she can babysit Evan. Only took me 2 1/2 hours to make a 45 minute trip. Oh, and the wreck was caused by.............................a chicken truck that turned over. Gotta love living in the country!

That's soooo funny! Very nice of the people that helped you though. :-) Might have taken even longer if you lived closer to Atlanta.
